Ingredients:
- 1 can of tuna (drained)
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese (full-fat or low-fat, depending on preference)
- 1-2 tbsp dill relish (or pickles)
- 1-2 tsp stone ground mustard (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Optional: 1 boiled egg, chopped (if you have eggs available)
Instructions:
- Drain the Tuna: Start by draining the canned tuna well to remove excess liquid.
- Mix the Base: In a bowl, combine the tuna and cottage cheese. Stir well until the tuna is evenly coated with the cottage cheese.
- Add Relish and Mustard: Stir in the dill relish (or pickles) and stone ground mustard. This gives the salad that tangy flavor that’s often found in traditional tuna salads with mayo.
- Season: Add salt and pepper to taste. If you have eggs available, chop one and add it to the mixture for an extra protein boost.
- Serve: This can be enjoyed as is in a bowl or spread on whole-grain bread, crackers, or lettuce wraps for a lighter option.
